Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
Recently I saw the Daily Meal’s article on the 50 most powerful people in food, which includes everyone from Martha Stewart to Wolfgang Puck and the head of McDonald’s. While it is true that these are people who have considerable sway over what people are eating, it is our determined hope that the list will soon shift to feature folks like Dan Barber of Bluestone Farms and Will Allen of Growing Power.
So, to that end, we are starting an ongoing series on the people of the good food movement. Each week we will profile a large player in addition to a lesser known hero, heroine, or group out there building what will someday become a healthy food system with a better chance of sustaining our species and our planet.
We hope you enjoy and send us a note about someone you think we should add….
We are starting with Bon Appetit Management Company. They have committed themselves to be a socially and environmentally responsible food services company and are in the news currently with some important changes to their sourced ingredients.
